MEET THE TEAM
Founder and Co-Owner
As the loving fur mom of a Scnhoodle named Sampson and two Airedale Terriers, named Winston and Maple, Erica and her husband have gone to great lengths to ensure their pets were well cared for while they're away.
While working long hours at their full-time jobs, it was a challenge to coordinate who would be home to let their babies "out of the kennel" during the day. That's where the idea of Out of the Kennel began!
In 2014, Erica started full time walking and pet sitting dogs. In May 2015, Out of the Kennel expanded to bring on additional dog walkers and pet sitters to the team. Out of the Kennel remains as one of the best dog walking and pet sitting companies in Dallas because of the care and thought process that is put into hiring and training high quality dog walkers and pet sitters. We believe in building bonds between you, your pet and your dog walker as this creates positive and loving environments for your pets.
Sara has a degree in Advertising from Texas Tech and worked in advertising and marketing for several years before she decided walking dogs was more fun. She comes from a long line of crazy dog people, at least all the way back to my great-grandparents. Sara grew up with German Shepherds and her and her husband currently have two rescue dogs: a blue heeler/border collie mix (the boss) and a malamute mix who is too smart for his own good.
Sara has been a proud OLH homeowner for the last three years, but is originally from Houston. When not hanging with canines, she enjoys exploring local hangouts and painting with watercolors.
Favorite Dog-Friendly Spot in DFW:
White Rock Lake.
I studied Psychology and Child Development at both Baylor and The University of North Texas.
I attended graduate school at The University of Dallas and Argosy for Counseling Psychology. I worked for several years as a preschool teacher.
I grew up in a dog family and have always loved dogs. I got my first dog on my own almost 11 years ago. He is a puggle name Milo and he stole my heart the day I brought him home and he continues to do so every single day. I met Erica at the dog park and when she told me about her business I knew I had to be a part of it and what started as (what I thought would be a temporary job) ended up being something I absolutely fell in love with.
When I am not taking care of pups, I work with children. I also love to run and just began doing barre classes. I also love spending time with my friends and family, walking and snuggling with Milo, and reading a great book.
